5 DAYS HO CHI MINH CITY - CU CHI TUNNELS - VUNG TAU - MEKONG DELTA
Highlights: Cu Chi tunnels, Independence Palace, War Remnant Museum, Central Post Office, City Hall, the Opera House, Vung Tau beach, Mekong Delta.
DAY 1 : HO CHI MINH CITY ARRIVAL (D)
Meet on arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport, transferred to hotel for check-in. Free at leisure till dinner. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
DAY 2 : CU CHI TUNNELS & CITY TOUR (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we depart for Cuchi. This underground tunnels network constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the struggle for independence. Before exploring the system, we watch a short documentary film of how this extraordinary tunnels constructed. We then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels ( with 3 levels ). Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of war.
After lunch , return to city center. We will visit to the Independence Palace which was the residence of the Presidents of the former South Vietnam until 1975; continue to the War Remnant Museum which comprehensively documents the travails of the long Vietnam - American War; the rest of time, strolling along Dong Khoi street, formerly known as the Rue Catinat, the main shopping thoroughfare and heart of old colonial Saigon. Pass by classic European-style landmarks such as the ornate City Hall, the Opera House (only be viewed from the outside), and pay a quick visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office. Dinner and Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
Day 3 : FULL DAY VUNG TAU BEACH (B,L,D)
Breakfast and leaving for Vung Tau, traveling by immense rubber and cashew nut plantations, as well as scenic rice fields. On the way to Vung Tau, we stop at the Large House (Nha Lon) and its temples at Long Son Island which is a place to celebrate festivals, with a school, a market, a Ghe Sam preserving house, and Ong Tran's graveyard.
Arriving in Vung Tau, we visit the White House Palace (a summer residence of the last emperor Bao Dai), offering a wonderful view of the beach and the city. You also visit Nirvana Meditation Retreat and Thich Ca Phat Dai, a Buddhist shrine, French-built light house and the giant Jesus Christ statue as optional choices.
Seafood lunch at a local restaurant. Free time for relaxing at Bai Sau Beach. Late afternoon, transferred back to HCMC. Dinner and Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
DAY 4 : MEKONG DELTA (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we drive more than 1 hour driving to My Tho. On arrival, boat trip on the Mekong river for sightseeing: the view of the river’s banks, fish - floating market and islands of Dragon, Unicorn,Turtle, Phoenix. Visit to the Houseboat fishfarms in the Mekong Delta. After that, landing on Unicorn island. Stop at local orchards and try seasonal fruits, listening traditional music. Lunch will be served with “ Elephant Ear fish”. Get on horse cart going through country lanes. Another stop at local farm to see bee farm, coconut candy workshop, taste honey bee tea…A short rowing boat trip through canals, you will boarding big boat to return mainland. Back to Hochiminh city. Free time till dinner. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
DAY 5 : HO CH IMINH CITY / DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast, free time until transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for your departure flights.
